Tucker's Back!

It's been a little less than a week since Tucker's surgery, but he is finally back to normal. Here is a summary of what we went through:

Thursday: Took Tucker the vet after J and I discovered Tucker's teeth were falling out and rotten looking. Began antibiotics and scheduled surgery for Monday.

Sunday, 2/8: Tucker couldn't eat food after 7pm. J and I were anxious and nervous of the outcome. Lots of prayers were said.

Monday, 2/9: Longest day ever! I dropped Tucker off at 8:00 am. His temperature was normal and so was his bloodwork! He was a go for his procedure. I didn't hear from the vet (although i called up there alot) until about 4pm. Tucks was in recovery and had 4 teeth pulled, his teeth cleaned, a "console" put into his jaw to replace the gap where the teeth are now gone, stitches in his mouth. At 6pm, Jason and I were able to pick up Tucker. He was so out of it from having the anesthesia. His little leg was shaved so the IV could go in and he had a yellow bandage around his leg. We were warned that Tucker's temperature was too low when he woke up so we had to keep him very warm all night so he didn't get sick. Jason and I were perfect parents and wrapped him in blankets and kept in warm all night!

Tuesday, 2/10: Poor Tucker was so sick. he couldn't walk even to go to the bathroom. He was vomiting and had other stomach issues. No eating. He didn't want to be touched or held. He just wanted to sleep in his own little puppy bed.

Wednesday, 2/11: Mean Tucker came. He growled at us and looked at us so crazy. I knew he was just in so much pain and hated to see him like this!

Thursday, 2/12: Mean Tucker in the morning, but when I got home from work, he was up and wagging his tail!

Friday, 2/13: Tucker is back and sweeter than ever-plus he has white teeth (just a few less) and great breath!

Moral of the story: Take care of your pet's teeth! Brush them and get their teeth professionally cleaned when your vet tells you too. Pay attention to cues like inflamed gums, yellowing of the teeth and bad breath. Really bad breath is the #1 sign that your dog has periodontal disease...I did learn that 85% of dogs by the age of 3 will experience some type of stage of periodontal disease. Greenies don't work alone!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Yay! Today was an awesome Friday the 13th! I love these because I was born on a Friday the 13th so they have always brought me luck. Tonight, Jason and our friend Farmer went to the Alamo Drafthouse to see....duh....Friday the 13th!

I was so excited all day because 1.) scary movies are my absolute favorite and I knew this Michael Bay remake wouldn't disappoint, 2.) I love the Alamo Drafthouse...it just has a really fun vibe to it so when you are seeing a movie like this on a day like this, I knew we were in for a treat.

Halfway during the movie, an employee dressed as the killer "Jason" started sneaking up on audience members. It was so hilarious to hear what comes out of people's mouths when they truly get scared. One guy let out a very girlish scream and then said a few words that I can not repeat....it was hilarious!

Afterwards, I was lucky enough to have my own personal encounter with the star of the movie...and the only person in the movie to remain alive...don't act like I gave the ending away. Everyone knows what happens in slasher movies!

Zoom, Zoom!

I am truly a marketers dream! If someone tells me a product is great I am out the next day making a purchase...within reason...I do work in higher education. I was on the treadmill the other day (gasp) watching E! News and Kim Kardashian, who I think is drop dead gorgeous, said that she is in love with MAC's Zoom Lash.

I found myself the very next morning, purchasing this mascara in black at my local Macy's. I was surprised to find that one tube was only $12.00. Yes, $12 for mascara is a little steep, but drugstore mascara is now about $7-9.00

Well folks, I was not disappointed! It really does what it says and pumps up the volume, but isn't clumpy. It even gives your lashes a nice curl and does not smudge.

Hopefully, my $12 tube will last a long time. I did notice that I barely have to use much for it to make an impact. Whereas, my Maybelline takes a lot of strokes to achieve perfect lash-ness! I bought it in black - go buy this product, you will thank me!

Poor Tucker and his teeth!

Say a little prayer for Tucker! He is going to the vet tomorrow for surgery. I noticed last Wednesday night by complete chance that Tucker's teeth looked like they were dead...they literally looked rotten. I'm not talking a little bit of tarter people, I am talking brown with inflamed gums. One of his teeth had already fallen out and two others were hanging on for dear life.

Jason and I of course flipped out, but thought this was so strange because Tucker just had his annual check-up a few months ago and he got a clean bill of health. I called his vet the next morning and they advised me to bring him in.

It was determined that he has a bacteria infection in his mouth which caused he teeth to rot and his gums to deteriorate. The vet pulled the teeth that were hanging on...they actually just kind of fell out as she was examining him.

Tucks is now in an antibiotic to treat the bacteria and has to go in on Monday for the following:

-Blood work to make sure the rest of his body hasn't been affected by the bacteria
-Teeth extractions...he is going to be practically toothless!
-Teeth cleaning for the ones that don't go
-Anesthesia/IV/post-op medicine
-Plaque prevention gel
-Barrier sealants on teeth
-Radiograph
-More Antibiotics

What does this all equate to? A healthy puppy (we hope) and a lot of $$$. Not something we were planning for, especially with our wedding in just a few months. Sorry I am complaining so much, but it is so stressful...sometimes it is good to vent and do a blog post that isn't all roses.

Money problems suck! I am so thankful though for my job and for Jason's job. Everyday I read about more layoffs taking place. I truly appreciate having such a great job that I actually enjoy and look forward to going to. I know layoffs are a major possibility so my plan is to continue to work as hard as I can and pray that I will be staying where I am for a long, long time!!!

So, I got off topic-back to Tucker! I know he will be fine, but I will still be worrying about the little guy while he is at the vet on Monday. I will be picking him up Monday afternoon and will certainly let you know how he is.

By the way...Ashley and I won the Southern Weddings Photo Contest! We actually got first place!!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us!!!

Thank you!!! We really appreciate it...and yes, we know that we need to get a life!

Can't Wait for the Big Show...

No I'm not talking about the Superbowl...I have way too much homework to watch that tonight. I am talking about The Bachelor! I am really into this season and it keeps getting better and better. I never get to watch it with the rest of the world because I am stuck in HR class on Monday nights until 10pm, but my wonderful fiance always tapes it for me...yes tapes-we aren't high tech with a DVR and still own a VCR and VHS tapes.

I don't get to watch it until Wednesday night therefore I have to stay away from the Internet for a few days. Below is mine and Tucker's list of the order of elimination. I just want to know when Deanna is coming back!
So the next one I think is going is Stephanie (34, medical marketing representative, single mom). I LOVE her, but I just don't think there is a romantic connection between her and Jason.
I predict the next to go will be Naomi, (24, flight attendant). She is sweet, but I don't think she is strong enough or smart enough to keep Jason interested.
The top three are tough. At this point I think Melissa (25, sales representative) will go next. Fun fact, I went to college with Melissa. We were freshman together and hung out with the same boys our freshman year. We also had a class together. She is really sweet, but she was glued to her boyfriend-the one she always alludes too-they even took the same classes together. I don't think she is ready to be a mom and settle down. Did you know she did another reality TV show when she was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader-maybe she just wants to be famous???
Top 2: I think Molly (24, department store buyer) will go next. To me, she seems like one of the most mature girls even though she is the youngest.
And the winner is...at least in my mind...Jillian (29, interior designer from Canada) is perfect for Jason and Ty! Aren't they cute together?

Who do you think will win? Have a great week! BTW, sorry for the lack of posting! I have been so busy with work, school and wedding planning. You can read all about my progress at my other blog, The Perfect Catch.
